Welcome to the largest, most welcoming yacht club on Lake Michigan, where people from all walks of life come together in a spirit of inclusivity and fun. While we proudly embrace classic traditions, like our blue blazers, we’re anything but stuffy. Instead, you’ll find a relaxed, easygoing vibe that invites everyone to be themselves, away from the pressures of daily life. Unlike many yacht clubs that close up shop for the winter, we’re a lively hub all year round.
Our dues and slip fees are surprisingly affordable, thanks in part to the dedication of our passionate members who help maintain the club. As a major player in the Great Lakes yachting scene, we offer an exciting mix of sailing and power boating activities. But what really makes us unique is that a growing number of our members don’t even own boats. For them, SSYC is all about the community, located in the most beautiful spot on Milwaukee’s lakefront, right in the heart of the city’s most vibrant neighborhood.

However, there’s one thing we all agree on: among private clubs in metropolitan Milwaukee, South Shore Yacht Club offers one of the best experiences for the value. Whether you're seeking relaxation, recreation, or a strong sense of community, it’s an experience that truly stands apart.
If you are interested in sailing, and more specifically racing, there are ample opportunities to join one of our racing fleets, or to crew on one of the boats in those fleets. The women's fleet races on Mondays, small boats race on Tuesdays. Big boats race on Wednesdays and Saturdays. And the double handed fleet races on Fridays.
Power boats are an important part of the SSYC Fleet. Members own and operate many types of vessels including cruisers, antique boats, pontoons and motorized dinghies. If you have a boat with a motor, you will find yourself at home among our power fleet.
SSYC offers sailing lessons and a year-round program for children ages 8 - 18. We offer a six-week series of lessons in Opti's, 420's and Lasers. Our juniors attend a number of regattas throughout the summer, and host one of thelargest regattas on Lake Michigan, the Kaszube Cup.
