South Shore Yacht Club (SSYC) is seeking highly motivated students eager to gain hands-on experience in hospitality. Our internship program offers a rotational-based learning environment, pairing interns with experienced managers as mentors. Participants will receive training in membership, food & beverage, accounting, marketing, and sail race operations.

As a smaller club, SSYC accepts a maximum of 2 interns per summer, ensuring a personalized experience tailored to individual interests. This internship is designed to cultivate future leaders in the private club industry, offering immersive learning experiences that will shape the next generation of club professionals. Candidate Qualifications

Requirements: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a 4-year hospitality program or a comparable program.

Program Length: May – August, following the undergraduate break schedule.

Compensation:

  • $16/hr
  • Hourly performance-based incentive pay
  • 1 meal per shift
  • FREE Housing in the SSYC neighborhood

Transportation: Bicycle provided.

Scheduling and Availability: Applicants must have open availability and commit to full-time hours (35+ hours/week) for the duration of the internship.

Uniform Requirements: Interns must provide their own non-slip shoes, black work pants/shorts, khaki work pants/shorts, and business casual attire. Polo shirts will be provided for the different outlets, along with one foul weather jacket.

Rotational Program: Interns will rotate through departments to receive comprehensive training, including:

  • F&B - Dining, Events, Banquets, Kitchen
  • Waterfront
  • Junior School
  • Sail Race

Management Exposure: Interns will shadow their mentor managers week to week, wearing business casual attire or Club provided uniforms, to learn about their day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. They will spend time with various managers, including the Member Services Manager, Food and Beverage Manager, Controller, Executive Chef, and General Manager. Interns will also have weekly one-on-one meetings with the General Manager to gain insights from an industry leader.

Local Badger Chapter: SSYC will sponsor attendance in all applicable chapter events.
