ASA 101 Weekend Beginner Sailing Class
Maximum 6 students with 2 instructors
This is a perfect introductory course to help you learn about sailing. It will provide the necessary knowledge to sail a boat of about 20 feet in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. You will learn the fundamentals of keelboat sailing, including sail theory and practice, terminology, safety equipment and procedures, crew overboard recovery, sailing knots and much more.
Format: Taught from South Shore Yacht Club. This course is offered as a 2 day weekend course over Saturday and Sunday, 6 hours each day.

ASA 103 Intermediate Sailing Class - Basic Coastal Cruising
Maximum 4 students with 1 instructor
Sign up for this Intermediate course to break into the world of coastal cruising and learn to develop skills to safely cruise the Great Lakes as skipper and/or crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat of 31 feet. Learn sailboat cruising terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather interpretation, safety, and seamanship.
Format: Taught from South Shore Yacht Club. This course is offered as a 2 day weekend course over Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours each day.
