Grounds Clean Up Work Party
We'll be tackling various tasks to ensure our club grounds are well-prepared for the upcoming months. Our work will include:
Installing Wind Screens
Organizing Spar Racks
Storing Tables
Sweeping and Cleaning the Grounds
To fuel our efforts, coffee and pastries will be served in the morning, and a delicious lunch will be provided once the work is completed. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the club's maintenance and connect with fellow members.
Lecture Series: The SS Christopher Columbus
presented by Todd Gordon of the
Wisconsin Marine Historical Society
The SS Christopher Columbus was built for the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago, and carried almost 2 million passengers from downtown Chicago to the fairgrounds during the exposition. After the fair, it was part of the passenger service industry between Chicago and Milwaukee. During its 40 year career, it reportedly carried more passengers than any other passenger vessel in history.
Slip Closing Work Party
We will need lots of volunteers for all the closing tasks so please come out and lend a hand. Dress for the weather and in comfortable clothes that are appropriate for doing work. Life jackets are required while working on the docks.
