  Glenn Ponting

Glenn Ponting, Slip Committee chair

Glenn bought a used Hobie Cat 35 years ago after seeing Hobies featured in a beer commercial on TV. He was hooked and bought a brand new one a year later. Much to wife Wendy’s annoyance they still have that boat in the back yard. About 10 years ago, Wendy wondered what it might be like to live on a boat. That lead them to their first keel boat, Caribbean Soul, a Catalina 36, and that in turn led them to join SSYC in Winter 2009. After nine years sailing and cruising Lake Michigan, including two trips to the North Channel, they’ve now moved up and are the proud owners of Goin’ Coastal, a Catalina/Morgan 45 center cockpit cruiser. Glenn says they plan to sail the Great Lakes until retirement and then head for the Caribbean. Meanwhile Glenn is the Slip Committee Director, Wendy has joined the Entertainment Committee and they both enjoy Club events and new friendships at SSYC.
