Fabiszak Mel 2014

Slip closing is just around the corner and your slip committee had a meeting on October 16th to establish plans for a safe and efficient closing and winterizing of the slips. The work party to close the slips will be held on Saturday November 1st at 9:00 AM.  We will be re-decking “B” Dock at the same time so additional help will be needed.

Please remember, as you winterize your slip, that all equipment attached to your slip must be raised above the lowest part of your finger pier, all lines, hoses, electrical cables, and the like must be completely removed by October 31st. The committee will not notify you of any discrepancies, the offending equipment will be removed by committee members, possibly disposed of, and the slip owner may be assessed a $100.00 forfeiture.

New Slip contracts will be mailed in November. Slip contracts will be offered only to members in good standing according to club policy. There are some changes to the contract, so be sure and read it carefully. Major changes include a $200 nonrefundable deposit that must accompany your slip contract when returned to the club. You will no longer be able to attach any equipment to the main dock. All equipment MUST be attached to the finger pier stringers or the main dock stringers using appropriate brackets and hardware next year. Also next year only 30 or 50 amp UL Listed Marine shore power cords will be allowed to be attached to out electrical pedestals. Adaptors and non-marine electrical cords will not be permitted. Our insurance company is mandating these changes to keep our premiums low and to be in compliance with Federal regulations.

The club currently has enough dock box brackets for A and B docks. Weather permitting the committee hope to have the brackets installed before inclement weather arrives. As a reminder Dock boxes that are mounted on new brackets and are all the way off the main pier may remain in place over the winter. If your dock box is not on new brackets it must be removed from the docks. If your vessel is stored on club grounds you may store your dock box under your vessel. If you do not store your vessel at the club there is a $50.00 storage fee to keep your dock box on club grounds. Please be sure that your name and slip number are visible on your box when left for storage. Failure to have your name and slip number on your dock box may result in your box being removed from club grounds and disposed of. No metal dock boxes of any kind will be permitted on the docks next year.

All finger piers that have a step down from the main dock will have the word “STEP” stenciled in yellow paint at the location of the elevation change. Again, this is being done to bring the club into compliance with our insurance carrier’s requirements.

As a reminder I would like to thank members in advance for coming to the November 1st slip closing work party. The more members who assist the faster and smoother the closing process will be. I also wish to thank the slip tenants for their cooperation to make the closing go as smoothly as possible.
