Gale Tom 2014The Disco party was held on April Saturday April 12th following the Wine tasting just like last year and again, it was a huge success.  DJ and SSYC member Vince Verhasselt was the “music mix master” bringing in just some of his collection of over 5,000 songs.  The dance floor was never empty, as the music ran “non-stop” for four straight hours.  Period dress was the theme, and we saw plenty of platform shoes, flowered bell bottoms, open shirts, gold chains, head bands, and the MEN were even better! Great job Vince and his co-host and wife Lynn.

Klub Karaoke comes back to the South Shore Yacht Club Saturday April 26th and May 17th from 7pm to 11pm.  I recruited some NEW spectacular singers, so even if you don’t sing, come on down to dance and listen to some great entertainers. Of course my co-host Bridget Lenz will be joining us again with her own beautiful song styling’s and to “back-up” some of our less confident singers. There is apparently something in the alcohol at SSYC, because even the very shy get up and sing after a couple of drinks.  I’m just sayin….

Next up is the Kentucky Derby party on Saturday May 3rd, starting at 3 PM.  The youngest member of our Entertainment Committee, Laura Wehnes, is running this event.  She is SUPER excited and shared that, along with several special race participation events, she’ll also be holding a Ladies Hat Contest with many prizes, and a few surprises!  She’s also featuring special Kentucky Bourbon Drinks, “Derby” desserts, and authentic Bourbon BBQ sandwiches.  To keep the party going, we’re also bringing in a Live Blue Grass band at 5pm to let folks work off some of the Kentucky sprits.

I’d really like to add some new members to our Entertainment committee, so if you’re looking for something fun to do, join us on Wednesday April 23rd at 7pm as we plan and create new fun for SSYC.
