Well we had a great Summer, starting with the Review of the Fleet, Queen’s Cup, LMYA, Pirate Palooza, Corn Roast, and The Big Country BBQ.  Then there were the Power Boater Thursday’s , Wednesday night Sail Races, and a bunch of weekend Sail Race Parties, and a couple of Karaoke parties.  If you don’t have fun at SSYC, you won’t have fun anywhere.
So welcome to Fall, Winter, and the next season of fun at SSYC.  Below is the present list of activities scheduled so far. More will be added, so watch your e-mails and always check the Club Calendar.  I’d also like to thank ALL the volunteers who made every event possible.  Without a really dedicated volunteer core, nothing would happen at the Club.  A special thanks goes out to Cynthia Johnson, Vince and Lynn Verhasselt, Bridget Lenz, George and Sam Graubner, Bob Mueller, and Danny and Donna Danowski for all they did on the Big Country BBQ and Dance.
Speaking of volunteers, we really need some folks to jump in for decorating the Club for Halloween and the Christmas Holidays.  We have an Entertainment Committee Meeting this Thursday September 26th at 7pm at the Club.  I could really use some new people and fresh ideas for Halloween and the Christmas Holidays.  We also want to thank the Berkowski Clan for all the great decorating ideas and work for the past several Halloween’s  and Christmases.
The next big party is the Change of Watch Dinner.  Not black tie, but still a "dressy" event.  This year welcomes a new Commodore, all new Flag officers, and three new Board members.  This will be my final year on the Board and I'm really looking forward to serving with this new group.  I'm expecting a very exciting year following this fun dinner and dance!
Then get ready for the best costume party in the County, SSYC's annual Halloween Party.  We've got a great band, snacks, costume contests, and decorations.  Don't miss this VERY Special event!  The costumes people dream up are AMAZING!
Hope to see you new volunteers at Thursday's meeting!

Sailing and Racing

SailboatsIf you are interested in sailing, and more specifically racing, there are ample opportunities to join one of our racing fleets, or to crew on one of the boats in those fleets.  The women's fleet races on Mondays, small boats race on Tuesdays.  Big boats race on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  And the double handed fleet races on Fridays.

You can learn more about the various racing fleets by clicking here.  And the racing schedule (for all fleets) is available here.

PowerboatOur power boaters are active fishermen.  An annual fishing contest is held in July.

In addition, our power boaters host a number of events, usually on Thursdays as well as many weekends.
