The Power Fleet at SSYC

SSYC Power FleetA variety of social and competitive events for power boats promotes fellowship and seamanship.  Community service is also the hallmark of the Power Boat Fleet.  SSYC volunteers were part of the Milwaukee chapter of “Fishing has No Boundaries” first ever Lake Michigan fishing event.  Twenty-five anglers, many with severe disabilities, enjoyed a morning on the Lake fishing for trout and salmon.  A picnic followed and of course, the sharing of stories about the ones that got away.  An annual power boating event that is especially popular, is held for Milwaukee’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.  Additionally, SSYC power boaters host a boat ride and picnic in conjunction with the Rotary Club for foreign exchange students.  SSYC power boaters, in partnership with the Milwaukee Fire Department and US Coast Guard Auxiliary, organize an annual water safety seminar that is open to the public.
Overnight cruises and Lake Michigan Yachting Association activities are actively supported at SSYC.  SSYC power boaters organize the annual LMYA summer Open House showcasing  recreational activities on Milwaukee’s lakefront.
